zion national park
Hello and happy Tuesday! Here's the last leg of our Utah trip - which I really miss, that was such a fun spontaneous trip that wasn't planned but I'll remember perfectly! From Park City we drove to St. George, UT and then spent a full day hiking at Zion National Park, which is about an hour away from St. George.
There were a lot of cute places to stay actually right outside of Zion National Park (in Springdale?), but we hadn't looked into those places in time. It looked like a cute town! Lots of shops and restaurants and cabins, resorts, rentals. The place was pretty packed, but we were there midday on a Saturday so it was expected...even so, we managed to find parking on the side of the road (good luck getting in the parking lot...quite the comedy show, no joke), get through the line onto the shuttle and make it to our hike fairly quick!
Sam and I packed water, snacks and subway sandwiches for a picnic at the top and I would definitely recommend going prepared just in case! The night before, I found this website useful for detail on different hikes at Zion. We ended up hiking Observation Point Trail (from shuttle stop 7 and Weeping Rock Trailhead). The hike was 8 miles roundtrip - 4 miles all uphill and 4 miles back down. It was a GREAT workout, with an iconic and breathtaking view (literally) of the park at the top. Completely worth the sore legs!
I've also heard Angel's Landing is a very beautiful, popular and slightly scary hike! I think we'll try that one next time we're in Zion National Park. And that Narrow's Day Hike looks amazing! Want to do that one too. LET'S GO BACK! 🙂
