What an absolutely wonderful girl's day this was! It can be kind of tough to get together with friends these days, everyone is busy and/or living in different places, so I was really thankful that we were able to make a girl's day work for all of us! Because it was the best. So so thankful for all of these wonderful ladies that I am lucky to call friends! Ideas for the next one?? <3<3<3<3<3
blo dry bar
Our first stop was Blo Blow Dry Bar! This place is so much fun and perfect for people who don't always feel like doing their hair (me). They started us out with a little champagne - then they washed our hair, blew it out and gave us a menu of different hair styles to choose from - for whatever look you want to achieve with your frock!
It turned out to be a rainy cold day, so we were aiming for anti-frizzy wet mop, at least I was because my hair can seriously poof. I think all of us except for Ashley went with their tousled Pillow Talk style - think messy, not trying to hard, beachy waves. Ashley went with their straight Executive Sweet style to compliment her shorter do and everyone's hair looked amazing, and ready for our photo op!
We went to Blo Bar at the Hill Country Galleria, but they have two other's in the Austin area as well: Blo Domain & Blo 5th Street. The Hill Country location also offers professional Makeup services: full face, eyes, and/or eyelashes! Which actually sounds like a fun way to get ready for any Valentine's Day plans, right? I think fake eyelashes are fun for special occasions!! Hence the eyelash extensions that I got for my wedding that Sam thought looked like Spider legs. It's okay, he doesn't have to get it...haha. They made my eyes pop though, right babe? 😉
we olive & wine bar
With our hair all done up we headed to We Olive & Wine Bar! They were having "Sample Saturday" and offered tastings of all olive oils and vinegars! I'd never sipped on olive oil alone before - but apparently having two tablespoons of high quality olive oil every day has it's benefits: anti-inflammatory, lowers cholesterol, preserves cognitive functions, etc. Mixing the olive oils and vinegars was really good - seriously glad they didn't have full loaves of bread just sitting out...
When we sat down to our table we enjoyed their Artisan Cheese & Charcuterie Plate, their Artichoke Caper Flatbread (which was so good we ordered a second!) and after tasting several different wines, we landed on #25 Red Blend - 2012 Elsye Winery, "C'est Si Bon," Sierra Foothills, CA as our favorite red and then ordered a fun sweet and bubbly white after food for dessert ;). I think it might have been the riesling - I can't remember exactly because I'm more of a red wine fan, but I really liked it (do you remember which it was Rebecca)?
Everything was super good, we could have sat around that table talking and laughing for hours and hours, but we had to make our nail appointment, so we left reluctantly...but we had so much fun! The Hill Country location offers Sample Saturday almost every weekend, and a Paint Nite where you can work on a painting lead by an artist and order food and wine at the same time!
