I bought some almond oil awhile back from Whole Foods when my face was suffering more strongly from acne. I had heard that it would help and decided to give it a try! And while it didn’t completely cure my skin or anything it did help a little with that, but also, I came to learn that there are lots of benefits to using almond oil. It’s particularly good for your skin! And in multiple ways; to name a few:
- It’s an excellent natural moisturizer.
- It works really great as an eye make-up remover! It’s able to get my waterproof mascara gone easy-peasy.
- It’s great around the eye area in particular because it has anti-inflammatory effects, so it reduces puffiness and eases any sort of irritation. It also has a brightening effect so it helps at getting rid of dark spots and dark circles under the eyes. (If you have any sun spots this would help!)
- It is anti-aging and helps prevent wrinkles!
I’ve been using it a lot around my eyes because I tend to get really stubborn and prominent dark circles under my eyes. Ugh! The skin underneath my eyes is very thin and sensitive and the moisture from the almond oil helps strengthen the skin under and around my eyes!
I’ve also been using it to lighten the scarring that I have from acne! I’ve noticed a difference there over time. I’ll try anything to get those scar marks to fade because honestly I would love to be able to not wear any concealer or foundation. And I know I could just not, but I hate seeing my acne scars. They bother me!
And lastly I like it as a moisturizer! It’s not too heavy, doesn’t clog pores and actually helps clean your pores out! The almond oil counteracts the icky sticky oil that it produced by your body that generally clogs your pores! Awesome!
HERE is an article I found that lists a few more benefits. There are tons online. Mostly all in agreement, though I did find one on the DERM REVIEW that says different types of almond oil do different things for your skin. I didn’t even know there were different kinds of almonds! They say to get the maximum benefits of almond oil in your skin regimen is to make sure that whichever almond oil you are buying is or includes sweet almond oil. So I guess that’s something to look into. All I knew is that my bottle of almond oil says “promotes healthy skin” ( and I think I agree from what I’ve seen while using it! ) but I also checked after reading the Derm Review and saw that my bottle also says sweet almond oil!
What are your experiences with almond oil? And if you have any skin care secrets then please share them with me!!!
