Hello hello! Hope everyone had a restful weekend. Sam and I got back from Leakey earlier today, and I immediately had so much to catch up on because there's no WiFi where we were! The insanity, right? Haha...just kidding. This weekend was actually a great escape! Even though it was more of a mandatory escape (aka housing solution) for the weekend, it was still lovely!
We got into Leakey on Friday evening and were greeted with: a water outage, and then no hot water and then Zoey somehow sneaking outside while we weren't looking and then galavanting back into the house covered in skunk spray. We made the best. That night was one long stinky restless sleep, though! By morning we were officially used to it...every time we would come back into the house after some time outside we'd gasp at how awful the smell was! I'm convinced we probably smell like skunk really bad but we can't tell because we're so used to it now - it got to the point where we wouldn't notice a difference after tie outside!
We read online that the best solution for getting rid of skunk smell is to mix some odd amounts of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dish soap together and then scrub it into the affected area & rinse. Some chemist apparently came up with it. We also read that tomato juice doesn't really work and there was no skunk-off at the nearest market! So we did some similar peroxide-baking soda-dish soap-mixture on Zoey and then kept the windows open the entire weekend... you tell me if it worked next time you see us 😉
We woke up to herds of deer waiting for their corn every morning (and they were back every evening). We both got to feed little babes up close, saw a few bucks and some Axis deer! Then we'd go for walks down to the park right on the Frio River or around the neighborhood! I find it so funny that every time we visit is in the winter! Private access right on the Frio and we've been during the summer once! Just an observation, and we should probably change that this summer - anyone want to go? But it does make a peaceful winter retreat and the pups enjoy it anytime of year - it's puppy paradise!
Sam made burgers for the Super Bowl which we watched with America on Sunday night! That was a crazy comeback! I didn't know who I was going for at first but before the Falcons started winning I told Sam that I kind of hoped they would win because Georgians are nice. So that was my basis for who I chose! Haha. Though afterward when I saw how emotional Tom Brady got I was glad they won and were able to make some records, cause that's pretty neat too. Also Lady Gaga's performance was really good!!
So anyway, now I'm back to planning! I've got a busy week and I'm trying to look forward at the year and plan ahead! We'll see how well this works. Also REALLY looking forward to Galveston for Mardi Gras and then a collaborative trip I have coming up the last weekend of Feb. I'm so grateful to be able to blog about it all! Thanks for following along <3
