It's fall and it's Friday and that's a magical combination, isn't it? Sam actually has every other Friday off, so today is technically a weekend day for him and we're about to head to Home Depot to get some project materials!
He'll be getting home project stuff - he's currently working on the stairs in front of the house and then EVENTUALLLLLLY (which I'm wanting to be sooner rather than later) putting up a little gate (think a cute garden gate) at the top of the stairs, and then eventually fencing in our yard and putting a gate at the entrance of our driveway!
Why all the gates? We've been wanting to fence in our yard for awhile (especially so our dogs don't get too close to the road), but not too long ago someone attempted to break in to our house, WHILE I WAS HOME. And we realized just how exposed our house really was. Also our neighborhood is just really strange...it's nice but it's kind of like the Wild West over here. Seriously. It's something every week. Last week it was someone hitting everyone's trash cans and knocking them over before trash day so that the trash was all over the neighborhood and difficult to pick up. The week before that it was someone stealing all the gnomes around the neighborhood (but why people have gnomes, I have no clue). And every week it's someone's mail getting stolen or some dude in a big white truck that nobody can seem to catch, running people off the road. And then there's the random gun shots. So it's a crazy place and I need my gates! LOL but they'll be tasteful and pretty!
Anyway, I'll be getting a few Home Decor DIY materials! I can't wait to share, they're supposed to be pretty simple so stay tuned. I really like doing projects that are less holiday specific around fall, like not Halloween or Thanksgiving specific because then I can put them up in October and leave them until Christmas! It's all the same color scheme anyway: browns, oranges, greens, neutrals! Less things to store, less hassle! But actually one of the things I'm making could be used through the winter! Anyway, hope the projects go well.
This evening we'll be making dinner, we found this really yummy looking pork shoulder recipe. You stack it on top of pineapple on a skewer and roast it! I'll share it on my Instagram stories whenever we make it and I'll link to the recipe so find me over on Instagram @amandakwaltman!
We'll also be enjoying these Apple Cider Mule's - these bring a fun fall twist to the classic Moscow Mule, and they're pretty straightforward and easy to make! Perfectly paired with a crisp fall evening and maybe even a fireside night 🙂 Hope you enjoy these!
