Home & Job
The past couple of months around here have been crazy. We put an offer on two different houses, and then ended up nixing the whole thing all-together. We decided we're going to stop renting on Airbnb!! Which is huge because we've been in that game for the past 2 and a half years and it's partly been an extra source of income for me! BUT WE ARE SO READY TO BE DONE hosting our home. I have so many crazy stories from that experience though, so that's fun, although it wasn't fun at the time. LOL. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE using Airbnb when we travel, but hosting on Airbnb is very taxing...and sometimes the things you deal with are completely absurd...and I love people, but sometimes people drove me absolutely insane because they would do things that directly affected us or our home without thinking or by directly lying to us and throwing a 300 person party rager, charging admission to our home and trashing the place. The things people will do... So, we're happy to move on.
We are going to settle in to the house that we rented and start renting the condo out long term! And finally unpack and have our very own space for the first time since like 5 months after we were first married. So it's going to be great!
Also, we both have different things on the horizon job-wise. I've been back in the interviewing phase and Sam just landed a really great new job offer. But that's all I'll say about that for now.
Nugget's Knee Surgery & The Evil Deer
Nugget goes in for knee surgery next week and then we'll have to keep him off of his feet for 8 weeks which is going to be a struggle because all he ever wants to do is play! Any suggestions for things that can keep him occupied? We're hoping that he'll be healed by labor day because we're thinking about taking a trip down to Port Aransas with the family and it would be so fun to take them to the beach, they've never been to the beach before! I hate that he has to get surgery though...poor guy doesn't even realize his leg is so badly injured. He limps around on it like he can do anything still and he gets SO bored because we aren't even really supposed to be taking him for walks or letting him go swimming right now.
Speaking of taking them on walks though...I still take him on a short walk around our block so that he can do his business and we have a deer in our neighborhood that HATES ME. If you've followed my Instagram stories, you've heard all about her. She's single handedly chased me down over 5 times now, almost stamped Sam once and I NEED HER TO GO. I can't even walk in the neighborhood anymore... the last time she came charging me out of nowhere I had to scream at her, turn around and sprint with both dogs, with her chasing us, and then try and lose her in the middle of our condo complex. Meanwhile, Zoey decides to take a poop mid-chase and some old lady comes out of her condo and is fussing at me to clean up the dog poop. AND I literally said LADY, I UNDERSTAND, I HAVE A BAG, I'M GOING TO PICK IT UP BUT THERE IS A DEER CHASING ME RIGHT NOW AND I'M A LITTLE FRAZZLED! And she totally didn't care...but I was so scared and I was like listen lady, I can't deal with you right now. In the most forward and polite way possible. It was the most bizarre walk I've ever been on...
So last night when Sam got home from his work trip he was like, "let's go confront this deer and let her know who's in charge." Sure enough, she's out and about and starts coming toward us...but not full on sprinting like she does when it's just me, because she notices my fear. She starts walking toward us and Sam stands her down with Nugget's big dog stroller. They literally had a stare down for a solid three minutes and then she slowly started walking away. And I was like SERIOUSLY?! Thank God for Sam and his bravery... he was not scared of her and she could tell so she didn't bother us. I think she was less aggressive toward him this time because she didn't have her baby with her anymore. But man, if it had been just me and the dogs out there...I really need to try and get this on video so you guys can see how aggressive she is. I SWEAR this is a thing.
Trying New Restaurants: Urban Eat & Drink in Round Rock, TX
Okay anyway, sorry, that was a lot about that stupid deer. ALSO tried URBAN in downtown Round Rock this week. Super cute place. Has a happy hour every Monday-Friday, has brunch on the weekends and a bloody mary bar on Sundays! Ashley and I split two different sandwiches that were both really good. Her Bloody Mary was really good and I ordered a margarita! The margarita was decent but nothing beats a Torchy's Tacos margarita. All in all, super cute - love downtown round rock!
So that's lately in a nutshell! Crazy, but GOOD crazy.
