Galveston, TX is close to my heart because it's where I went to college, where I made some of my lifelong friends, and it's where the relationship between Sam and I began! It's such a special place to us, so I was very happy to partner with HomeAway to showcase one of the CUTEST rentals available on the island!
Sam and I stayed at The Waterhouse on the West end of the island in Beachside Village. It was located a short 5-10 minute drive from anything in town and a quick 2 minute walk to the beach which you could see from any balcony on the house - it was perfect. Another big reason we chose this location, besides how cute it was, is because it's a pet friendly property which meant our Zoey and Nugget got to experience the beach for the first time (which I'm pretty sure they were baffled by)!!!
Sam and I use HomeAway to travel pretty often! What I love most about using HomeAway is being able to rent a space big enough to invite your friends and loved ones to enjoy with you as well! We loved being able to wake up Saturday morning and cook up a big brunch with friends before spending time at the beach. We loved enjoying the porch during sunset and we loved sitting around the TV in the evenings until we couldn't keep our eyes open any longer!
HomeAway has over two million unique properties in 190 countries, and they have a space for every group and budget! I highly recommend checking out their properties for your next destination.
If you plan on visiting Galveston anytime this spring or summer, here are some recommendations of things to do/see/eat!
- Coffee Shops: MOD, Sugar Bean
- Breakfast: The Sunflower Bakery & Cafe, Mosquito Cafe, and Henry's (cheap - get the Surprise Burrito!), ShyKatz (good french toast!)
- Lunch/Dinner: Float (Nachos!), Yagas, The Original, Queen's BBQ (Turkey Cliffhanger!!), Murphy's (White Pizza is SO good), The Spot (for a burger), and I'm sure I left some off!
- Do: Walk/rollerblade/bike on Seawall, Visit Moody Gardens, Go Deep Sea Fishing with Galveston Sea Ventures, Beer Taste at Galveston Island Brewing, Take a surf lesson/rent a board with Ohana's, See if Artwalk is happening the Saturday you are in town, and check out Galveston's Calendar of Events to see what is happening during your visit - there is usually always something going on!
This time around Sam and I re-visited Porch Cafe in the Beach Town neighborhood of Galveston, we tried the new Mexican restaurant Taquilo's, and also tried Waterman's for the first time! Porch Cafe is very quaint and we liked the feel of Waterman's a lot!
