We made it to Friday and quite honestly, I'm exhausted! I don't know what it is lately, if its that the moving around is just all of a sudden catching up to me or what? I wish it was going to be a restful weekend but it'll be fun nonetheless. We're heading to Giddings for a night with family at Camp Tejas - where Sam and I got engaged three years ago! So it'll be fun to reminisce, enjoy the Christmas lights and some hot cocoa! Then we'll come back to Austin on Saturday (and hopefully do nothing!) and then Sam leaves on Sunday and I've got a turn around Airbnb booking.
All this to say that we could all use a FREE DAY once in awhile. Yesterday I got a real Christmas tree for the house (forever love a real Christmas tree) and made some yummy popcorn with Free Day Popcorn Company to snack on while I decorated the tree and listened to Christmas music! I love their popping ears, they are so fun - and farm fresh from Nebraska! You just stick them in a paper bag in the microwave and the kernels pop right off of the ear! What kid wouldn't love that? I was excited about it and I'm 28... it was just so neat!
I could see these making great stocking stuffers for a family or for the kids in your life. Maybe attach a little popcorn recipe to it and bring it as a hostess gift to a Christmas party? My mom bought me the Cooking for Jeffrey: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook for my birthday and it had a Parmesan Chipotle Popcorn recipe that I made last night and it was soo good! I'll share it below and you can use that to gift with these Free Day Popcorn ears.
parmesan chipotle popcorn by the barefoot contessa
- 1/2 stick of melted butter
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (I added a little more)
- 1/2 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
- salt (recipe called for 2 tsps and I thought that was way too much so I added less)
- pop the Free Day Popping ears
- pour the melted butter on the popcorn, the chili powder, parmesan cheese and salt
- mix well and then ENJOY
