Here are a few things that I have worked into my daily routine that have seriously helped keep my acne-prone skin clear over the past few weeks! I’m not saying this has stopped all pimples because I still have them, but I’ve seen dramatic improvements and started seeing clearer skin within a week: less acne, less red blotchy and less visible scarring.
I love my coffee, but before I go to drink a cup of coffee that Sam has already wonderfully made, I’ll boil a pot of water and have a cup or two of green tea with lemon and then have my coffee. There are sooo many benefits to drinking green tea. It’s full of antioxidants that are great for your skin and your health in general: losing weight, lowering cholesterol, preventing cancer, protecting skin from the sun, preventing wrinkles, etc. Just google green tea benefits and be amazed! Same with lemons, apparently they are natures little miracle drug… it’s literally a natural antiseptic!! That lemon is going to attack the bacteria in your body and clear it out! Again, Google lemon benefits and be amazed. There are so many!
I’ll take two Apple Cider Vinegar tablets twice a day. Remember that post about me trying to get my ACV by drinking it? DONT DO IT, it’s awful. Thankfully it exists in pill form! ACV fights bacteria, balances pH levels, protects skin and has amino acids that work to keep skin youthful and hydrated. Among many other health benefits!
I’ll also take two capsules of coconut oil twice a day! Coconut oil is rich in proteins, vitamin e, fatty acids, and saturated fats that are all great for your skin! This helps your skin stay clear, plump, retain moisture, reduces pore size and prevents build-up!
Make sure you’re getting them in! Work in an apple a day as a snack! I’ll work in a big handful of spinach to my morning smoothie. I love drinking lemon and cucumber water throughout the day and I like to snack on carrots in the afternoon. I also like to juice from time to time, but that can feel like a lot of work if you don’t have much time. And check out my eggplant aioli sandwich post! There are plenty of ways to work in being healthy!
Get outside and get some sunshine (just don’t over expose)! Vitamin-D is crucial for your body to function properly, in fact vitamin-d deficiency had been correlated with many types of cancer and diseases, as well as depression. It’s no wonder our body can actually produce it when exposed to sunlight. Some doctors believe that sun exposure is the best way to increase your vitamin-d levels, however overexposure is harmful to our skin and sunscreen can actually interfere with the vitamin-d producing process so it seems we can’t fully rely on being in the sun to get it. Other ways to get Vitamin-D are through supplements or certain foods. It can be found in foods such as salmon, tuna, Portobello mushrooms, and egg yolks for example.
Drink lots and lots of it! Clear out those toxins! Keep nutrients flowing and help your organs and cells work their best!
