Sam and I have had a super crazy year so far. There's been a lot of change, almost buying a new house twice, celebrating three years of marriage... and also a lot of adventure. I can't believe we're already more than halfway through the year. Here's a look back at the trips we've taken over the past 6 months - half a year of travel!
January - Santa Fe, New Mexico, Marfa, TX & Columbus, Georgia
Sam and I try to take one or two snowboarding trips every year! My family has been driving over to NM for skiing ever since I was in middle school! Santa Fe is a really fun town to visit - they've got a town square, they've got art, they've got good food - it's really quaint. One thing I remember specifically from this trip was that EVERYONE recommended we eat at The Shed, for the best Mexican Food in Santa, Fe & the last night we were there we tried going and it was closed! Can't wait to go back and finally get one of those Marg's and # 5's that everyone raved about.
On the road trip home from Santa Fe, we made a bit of a detour to check out El Cosmico in Marfa, TX. I definitely recommend visiting in the colder months because the Tipi's have gas fire pits and the ambiance inside of the tipi is AMAZING when it's on. It's lit up, it's warm, I loved it. They also have wood-fired hot tubs that you can reserve during your stay which are perfect for the colder months as well!
This was a work trip for Sam that I was able to tag along on! We went white water rafting on the Chattahoochee while we were there! Every time I hear or say Chattahoochee I sing Alan Jackson's song in my head, anyone else?
Down by the river on a Friday night
A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight
Talking 'bout cars and dreaming 'bout women
Never had a plan just a livin' for the minute
Yeah way down yonder on the Chattahoochee
Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me
But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was
A lot about livin' and a little 'bout love
February - Whitefish, Montana
This was one of my first collaborative blog travel trips! So it was really exciting for me and also Montana was GORGEOUS. I loved Whitefish so much. We snowboarded at Whitefish Mountain Resort, we ate really awesome food at The Last Chair Kitchen and Bar & Truby's, we stayed at the cutest boutique hotel, The Firebrand and everything was so cute and everyone was so friendly! Hope to plan a trip back around Christmas.
March - Ft. Lauderdale & Key West, Florida
This was a one night stay on our way to Key West, FL. We stayed at The Pelican Grand Beach Resort and just relaxed! Some of the amenities we enjoyed were the lazy river, the spa overlooking the beach and the beach front restaurant! Super quaint.
Sam's family likes to vacation down to Key West during Spring Break and we LOVE IT. Key West is definitely my kind of place. It's very relaxed, very quaint and every street and house is so beautiful. We like to rent a moped and ride around the whole island, try new restaurants, enjoy The Porch Bar and eat a ton of key lime pie. This time around we also went on a sunset cruise!
This was by far one of my favorite trips this year because it's so close to home! Cinnamon Shores in Port Aransas, TX is literally a dream. It's perfect. It's perfect. It's perfect. Click here to see why. Labor Day trip anyone?
May - Salt Lake City, Park City & Zion National Park, Utah
This was another work trip for Sam that I was able to tag along on! I'd never been to Utah before but it was gorgeous. Salt Lake City was very urban, trendy, and walkable! They also had gorgeous flowers EVERYWHERE for spring and the hiking weather was great. Very outdoorsy city!
We went on a side trip to the ski town of Park City, UT. Weird being there with no snow! We stayed in a super quaint hillside Airbnb, went for a hot air balloon ride and then went to a very recommended distillery called High West.
Our last stop in Utah was Zion National Park. We actually stayed in St. George but made a day trip to Zion and did one of the most iconic hikes there. The view was obviously gorgeous and literally breathtaking!
June - Las Vegas, Nevada & Akumal, Mexico
My schedule this year with Airbnb and blogging has allowed me to go on a lot of awesome adventures with Sam and I've been so grateful for that. This was another one of those times! We stayed on the strip at The Linq and explored some food and drink places in Vegas that we'd not yet been to before.
Our latest trip was for our THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY. I cannot believe we've been married for three years now. I mean, in the grand scheme it's still not very long but as they say, time flies. Mexico was gorgeous and if you didn't see that post recently you can check it out here. We ate, we drank, we swam with turtles, we swam in caves and all that jazz!
